10 years ago while studying cinematography in Monterey, California, Kyle tried scuba diving for the first time. What was expected to be nothing more than a check on the bucket list, blossomed into something more than he could have ever imagined.
After completing his degree and spending four years exploring the cold, murky waters of central California, Kyle shipped off to Quepos, Costa Rica to begin his professional dive training. He would stay in Quepos for the better part of 2017, honing his skills as a diver and discovering a newfound passion for marine conservation.
Riding the conservation wave, at the end of 2017 Kyle was offered the opportunity of a lifetime; managing a large scale conservation program on the remote island of Andros in the Bahamas. In this position he would oversee the training of 30 volunteers in scientific diving and the monitoring of the Andros barrier reef. He was only 22 years old.
After 14 months of lifechanging experiences and beautiful island living, Kyle decided it was time to move on from the Bahamas and continued his conservation journey to the island of Negros Oriental in the Philippines. He was brought on to run the professional development courses at the highly regarded organization "Marine Conservation Philippines".
While mostly focusing on teaching rescue and divemaster courses, Kyle also had the opportunity to receive training to become a technical scuba diver. Over the course of the year he would dive to depths of up to 52 meters (175 feet), seeing parts of the ocean floor never before observed by the human eye.
After several exciting years abroad, it was the COVID 19 pandemic that finally sent Kyle back home to the United States. Time during this uncertain period was largely spent in Key West, Florida, guiding divers on the "Vandenberg", the second largest shipwreck in the United States.
As the world slowly started to return to normal, Kyle left the keys and made his way out to Honolulu, Hawaii in February 2021, and has resided here ever since.
Focusing heavily on beginners and building strong foundations, Kyle created Scuba Lounge as a way to make diving more accessible for everyone and has since spent his days in the beautiful tropical pacific sharing his passion for the ocean with travelers from all over the world.
